LAHORE: The Federal Government has approached Lahore High Court (LHC) against verdict of the single bench to remove Chairman National Database and Registration Authority Lieutenant General Munir Afser.
The federal government challenged the decision through the Additional Attorney General. In the petition, it has been argued that the appointment of Chairman NADRA Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar was done according to the rules. After the data leak of NADRA, the federal government made a new appointment under the rules.
The federation stated that the selection committee approved the appointment on merit out of six candidates. The Federal Cabinet approved the amendment to the new appointment rules.
In the appeal, it was stated that Section Seven of the Appointment Rules was not invalidated by the Single Bench. Chairman NADRA cannot be removed from office in the presence of Section Seven. The single bench of the LHC gave a verdict contrary to the facts.
In the petition on behalf of the federation, it was requested that the court should declare the single bench judgment null and void. The Court should order the reinstatement of the Chairman NADRA Lieutenant General Munir Afsar.
Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the removal of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Lieutenant General Munir Afsar.
The LHC accepted the petition against the appointment of Chairman NADRA and declared the appointment of Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar null and void.
