KARACHI: The Karachi Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who used to loot people by impersonating as security personnel in Orangi Town area of Karachi.
Iqbal Market Police have arrested five accused from Hawa Goth Raja Tanveer Colony who used to commit robberies in houses by wearing police uniforms.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tariq Mastoi said that the accused had committed many robberies in houses by wearing police uniform and a case was registered against them in Iqbal Market police station.
According to the SSP, weapons, police uniforms, mobile phones and cash have been recovered from the accused, while they have also confessed to street crime in Orangi Town and Baldia Town and Manghopir areas.
He said that the accused used to do Reiki of the house earlier and then when they got a chance, they looted houses and ran away.
It should be noted that the police have arrested an accused in the District Central of Karachi who used to commit robberies while wearing police uniform.
SSP Central said that the accused had affixed a police number plate on the motorcycle and was robbing citizens.
According to the police, the accused is also involved in extorting money from the shopkeepers by wearing police uniform.
