LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has banned police officers and personnel from using social media platforms including Tik Tok, Facebook and others for on-duty policemen.
The Punjab police have banned the use of social media platforms by the Punjab government for those who appear to be busy making Tik Tok videos instead of performing their duties.
In this regard, IG Punjab has issued a social media usage policy for officers and employees. Police authorities have informed that strict departmental action will be taken against officials who upload videos in uniform.
On the orders of IG Punjab, AIG Operations has issued instructions regarding the social media policy, which states that no activity will be done on social media without the permission of the DPO Unit Head.
Personal, political or religious views of police personnel cannot be shared on social media. Official channel related to police activities will be operated by DPO unit head only.
The private individuals will not be allowed to use police vehicles or offices for social media activity.
The Regional Police Officers(RPOs) and Unit Heads will be personally responsible for the implementation of the Social Media Policy.
It should be remembered that in recent days, videos of Punjab police officers and women personnel were going viral on social media.
