KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) stopped the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from inquiring into the degree of Islamabad High Court Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
In the Sindh High Court, a hearing was held on the petition against the FIA inquiry on the degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
The petition against the inquiry was filed by President Karachi Bar Amir Nawaz Warraich.
The court restrained the FIA from inquiring into the degree of the Islamabad High Court judge. The court issued notices to the Deputy Attorney General, Advocate General Sindh, FIA and others.
The Sindh High Court stopped any kind of publication in the light of the decision of the Fairmen’s Committee.
The court also ordered Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) not to make any publication in the print and electronic media in light of the decision of the Fairmen’s Committee.
It should be noted that the Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri’s degree was declared ineffective by the In Fairmen’s Committee and Syndicate of Karachi University.
The Sindh High Court had suspended the recommendations of the University of Karachi committee and the decision of the syndicate.
Earlier, Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended the recommendation of the University of Karachi(KU) committee and the decision of the syndicate in the case of the degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, judge of the Islamabad High Court.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Salahuddin Pahwar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, heard the petition challenging the university’s authority in the matter.
