ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday suspended the physical remand of journalist Matiullah Jan in a first information report (FIR) registered at Islamabad’s Margalla Police Station, which includes provisions related to anti-narcotics and anti-terrorism.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition against the 2-day physical remand of Matiullah Jan.
President Islamabad High Court Bar State Ali Azad appeared in the court while Matiullah Jan’s lawyers Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha also appeared in the court.
Advocate Islamabad High Court Bar Riasat Ali Azad read the FIR in the court and said that there is no mention of buying and selling of ice in the FIR.
The Islamabad High Court, while suspending the decision of 2-day physical remand of journalist Matiullah Jan and said that Matiullah Jan should now be considered on judicial remand.
It should be remembered that he Anti-Terrorism Court gave Matiullah Jan in the custody of the police for a two-day physical remand.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued notices to the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Interior Secretary, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and IG Islamabad for protest despite the court order.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the contempt of court petition for protesting in the federal capital despite the court order not to allow the protest in the Islamabad High Court.
