LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday directed the administration to formulate a work-from-home policy for schools and offices.
Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the petitions against not taking effective measures to remedy the smog.
During the hearing, the members of the commission said that trees were cut to build a depot for electric buses in the township. There were reports that the trees were chopped and sold in the timber market.
On this, the court summoned the Punjab Transport Secretary and said that there should be an investigation as to where the cut trees go and if the matter of cutting the trees is found to be true, a case will be registered against the responsible parties.
Lahore High Court said that create software for vehicle data, create checking data by keeping three months’ time. He remarked that until the Deputy Commissioners DCs are transferred , things will not be corrected.
The court directed to make a policy on transport checking which contains data, install a tag system on the vehicles. On this, the government lawyer said that the work on making the policy is going on.
The court said that schools and offices should make a work-from-home policy as smog is not over, and it will return suddenly and construction work should not start.
Later, the court adjourned further hearing on the case till December 3.
