Hyderabad Police arrested popular Telugu actor Allu Arjun following a tragic stampede at the screening of his latest film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre, RTC Crossroads, Hyderabad, during the movie’s premiere.
A massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, resulting in a stampede that claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her nine-year-old son, Sri Teja, hospitalized due to asphyxiation.
A team from Chikkadpally police station detained Allu Arjun from his Jubilee Hills residence for questioning. Police registered a case against the actor, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by Revathi’s family.
In a separate incident, a second fan, Harijana Madhannappa, was found dead on December 11 after attending a screening of Pushpa 2 in Rayadurgam. The 35-year-old reportedly arrived intoxicated, and authorities are investigating the cause of death.
Reacting to the tragedy, Arjun announced ₹25 lakh financial assistance for Revathi’s family and filed a plea in the High Court seeking to quash the FIR against him. The court is expected to hear the matter in the coming days.
