QUETTA: At least 13 people were killed in two separate incidents reported in in Gwadar  and Sohbat Pur Districts of Balochistan province.

The tragic incident took place in Kalmat area of ​​Gwadar, where unidentified assailants opened fire on passengers coach from Gwadar to Karachi.

Police said five people were killed on the spot while one person was injured in the firing. However, the injured person also died during the treatment, which resulted in the death toll 6.

According to police, the victims were traveling from Gwadar to Karachi. One of the victims hailed from Multan while process to identify others is underway.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the killing of five passengers in a firing incident in the Kalmat area of Gwadar.

The president and prime minister, in their separately issued statements, prayed for peace for the departed souls, early recovery of the injured, and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss.

“The terrorists are the enemies of the country’s development and prosperity of Balochistan. They cannot see progress in Balochistan,” the president said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz directed the authorities concerned to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured people and investigate the incident to identify and punish the perpetrators.

Calling the miscreants the enemies of peace and development, he said that their cowardly actions of killing innocent people reflected their brutality.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the shooting on passengers in Kalmat, saying that the terrorists targeted innocent people by taking cowardly action.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the relatives of the victims, saying that killing innocent people is a humanitarian crime, identifying and targeting passengers is brutality.

Separately, as many as seven people were killed in a house attack in a village in Sohbat Pur district after unknown individuals opened fire at a house and further set it ablaze.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yousaf Bangha confirmed that all victims belong from the same family. The incident relates to a land dispute between the victims and attackers.
