Modi had prior information about Pahalgam attack, says Congress President Arjun Kharge
In a series of serious allegations, Congress President Malik Arjun Kharge has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had prior knowledge of the Pahalgam attack, which took place on April 22. Kharge accused Modi of canceling his planned visit to Kashmir after receiving an intelligence report three days before the incident, but failing to take any action to protect tourists and local citizens.
Kharge pointed out that while the intelligence report advised against Modi’s visit to the region, it did not highlight the danger to tourists and residents. He questioned why, if the Prime Minister’s safety was a concern, the government did not extend the same level of protection to others in the area.
The Congress leader referred to the attack as a “major intelligence failure” and emphasized that the incident raised serious questions about the Modi government’s handling of security. According to reports, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Intelligence Bureau later acknowledged security lapses during an all-party meeting on April 24.
These revelations have sparked continued criticism, with many accusing Modi of prioritizing his safety over that of the public. Analysts have also suggested that it is time for the government and intelligence agencies to be held accountable for the Pahalgam incident and its aftermath.
