TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially enforced a law suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to Iranian state media, the legislation was passed by Iran’s Parliament following the recent conflict with Israel, citing concerns over the IAEA’s conduct during and after the war. The bill was subsequently ratified by the country’s Supreme Council.
With the law now in effect, Iran has formally halted its cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.
Under this law passed by Parliament, Iran will not allow IAEA inspectors to enter it until the guarantee of its nuclear installations.
The Iranian parliament says that the House is also working on a bill in which cooperation with the IAEA will remain suspended until it is taken professional.
In addition to suspending cooperation with the IAEA , Iran is now considering imposing a ban on the entry of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, according to a senior Iranian lawmaker.
The lawmaker stated, “We have urged the Supreme Council to impose a ban on the IAEA chief’s entry into Iran.”
This move reflects growing tensions between Tehran and the UN nuclear watchdog in the aftermath of the recent Iran-Israel conflict.
