Executive Director of JPMC Prof Shahid Rasool dies at 59

KARACHI: Dr Shahid Rasool, Executive Director of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), has passed away at the age of 59.

According to a hospital spokesperson, Dr. Rasool suffered a sudden heart attack this morning and was immediately shifted to private hospital for emergency treatment. However, he could not be saved.

Dr. Shahid Rasool was widely respected in the medical community for his decades of service in surgery, patient care, and hospital administration. His untimely demise has been mourned by colleagues, staff, and healthcare professionals across the country.

JPMC has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of its Executive Director and extended condolences to his family. Tributes are expected to be paid in the coming days to honor his contribution to Pakistan’s healthcare sector.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori expressed deep grief over the passing of Professor Shahid Rasool, Executive Director of JPMC.

In his statement, the Chief Minister described Dr. Shahid as one of the country’s finest surgeons, praising his dedication to medicine and healthcare. He added that Dr. Shahid Rasool’s services to the medical community will always be remembered.

The Sindh Chief Minister also prayed for the elevation of the late doctor’s ranks in the hereafter and extended his condolences to the bereaved family, wishing them strength and patience during this difficult time.

Dr Shahid Rasool’s contributions to patient care, medical education, and hospital administration have left a lasting legacy in Pakistan’s healthcare sector.

Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of Dr. Shahid Rasool, Executive Director of JPMC.

In his statement, the Governor described Dr. Rasool’s services as invaluable, noting that his demise is a major loss to the country’s medical sector. He highlighted the significant contributions of Dr. Rasool to JPMC during his tenure.

The Governor prayed for the elevation of the late doctor’s ranks in the hereafter and for patience and strength for his bereaved family. He also prayed that Allah grants Dr. Shahid Rasool a place in His mercy.
