World Smile Day 2019

Usually when we see a person smiling, we find ourselves smiling too, smiling is one of the most beneficial activities for a human being.

For this purpose, World Smile Day is celebrated on October 04 (today) all over the globe including Pakistan. This day is observed on the first Friday of October.

The main motive behind this day is to get out of trouble and share each other’s sorrows, eliminate the misery in the hearts, reduce the growing distance between humanity and realize each other’s true emotions.

A smile is the physical manifestation of happiness, it can start friendships, or cause endless confusion.

Smiles are also known to creep the hell out of those on the receiving end.

Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts, created the smiley face in 1963.

This has had a profound influence on what we are accustomed to seeing in our everyday lives – think of social media, messaging and emojis as notable examples.

However, Ball became concerned about the over-commercialization of his symbol.

Harvey Ball passed away in 2001 and World Smile Day lives on to honor his legacy and to remind us that in a world awash with so much negativity – kindness and happiness can still prevail.

It has continued every year in Smiley’s hometown of Worcester, MA and around the world.

According to the scientific studies, a genuine smile is generally considered attractive to others around us.

The act of smiling, whether the result of real joy or an act, can have both short- and long-term benefits on people’s health and well being.

Smiling not only helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed but can actually help reduce stress.

Smiling can trick the body into helping you elevate your mood because the physical act of smiling actually activates neural messaging in your brain.

The act of smiling actually helps the human immune system to function more effectively.
