Headscarf is an age-old universal accessory. Women across cultures, religions, and the globe are seen wearing some version of a headscarf. Its stance as an in-demand fashion item, however, comes and goes. But of course, for a Muslim woman, the head covering is not purely a fashion statement. It symbolizes her commitment to religion.
Like any other piece of clothing, the hijab is also something that women often explore and experiment. While some may drape it a certain way to flaunt their earrings, others may prefer to show off the scarf’s fabric with sophisticated drapes. Either way, women who choose to cover their heads have plenty of options.
Of course, you can find an abundance of scarf styling inspiration on the internet. But if you are looking for an easy and simple guide, we have got you covered.
THE ICONIC WRAP
![]()
- Set the headscarf around your face as you like, and make sure to keep one side longer than the other.
- Cross the longer end over the shorter end. Wrap it over your head very loosely to keep some volume all around. In case you are not a volume person, simply wrap it around your head a little tighter.
- Fix it at the top and side of your head with a pin or a magnet.
THE THROWBACK

- Set the hijab around your face, keeping both sides even. Secure under your chin with a pin or magnet.
- Take one side and toss it over your shoulder. Pull it tightly and let it trail down your back, or let it drape softly over your shoulder.
THE ONE WITH A BOW

- Set the hijab around your face, leaving one side a bit longer than the other.
- Wrap both sides around your neck and bring them back to the front. Let them meet at the side.
- Tie into a bow.
CASUAL & CLASSY

- Set the headscarf around your face. Keep one side a bit longer than the other. Secure it under your chin with a pin or magnet.
- Wrap the longer side around your neck and let both sides hang loose.
THE LOOSE DRAPE

- Set the headscarf around your face, keeping one side much longer than the other.
- Wrap the longer side around and over your head. Fluff it up on top to create some volume, and back to the front over your shoulder.
- Take that same strand and bring it around your head once more. Pin it to the top of your head, and secure the fabric in front for the desired loose drape.
- Tuck the shorter side beneath the front drape.
THE TUCK IN

- Use a square-shaped headscarf. Fold it into a triangle and frame it around your face, and ensure a flawless curve above your forehead. Using a pin or magnet, fix it under your neck with both strands at equal length.
- Cross each side over the other, and wrap tightly around your neck. Fix it with a pin or magnet in the back.
- Tuck everything into your shirt.
THE SIDE KNOT

- Fold your headscarf in half lengthwise, and put it over your head. Cover your ears. Then bring both strands to the back of your neck and tie them together.
- Bring one side back to the front, over your shoulder.
- Grab both tails on the side of your head and tie a knot.
The TURKISH WRAP

- To start off, wear an under cap that goes along with your headscarf.
- Use a square-shaped headscarf, and fold it in an uneven triangle. Place it on your head, keeping both sides even, styling with a point at the top. Fix it under your chin with a pin or magnet.
- Take the two hanging sides, cross them over each other and around your neck. Tie them together under the triangular tail in the back, making sure that it is hidden.
THE TURBAN WAY

- Tie your hair in a bun. It should not too high and not too low.
- Fold your headscarf in half lengthwise, and put it over your head, keeping one side much shorter than the other. Cross both pieces toward the back, at the back of your neck.
- Wrap the shorter end around your bun, tucking it into itself to fix it.
- Then wrap the longer piece around your bun several times. Once again, tuck the remaining fabric into itself. Use a concealed magnet or pin to secure it.
THE TOP KNOT

- Drape the headscarf over your head. Keep both sides equal.
- Grab it from your temples, and pull forward, bringing the hem of the headscarf in the back up to the nape of your neck, right before your back hairline.
- Grab both ends, and cross them over your head, tying once at the top and front of your head.
- Wrap each side around the knot, until you have your large top knot.
We must have left you spoilt for choice. Now it is your turn to select what brings out your personality and makes you comfortable.
