Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa reiterates support to Kashmir cause. COAS said that army stands with Kashmir and Kashmiri people in difficult times.

COAS met President Azad Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan at General Headquarter (GHQ) Rawalpindi. Both leaders discussed current situations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Recent ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) were also discussed.

Previously, Prime Minister Imran Khan had a telephonic contact with US President Donald Trump, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Friday.

During their telephonic conversation, PM Imran Khan took the US President into confidence regarding the UN Security Council meeting today in which Indian occupied Kashmir issue is being discussed.

PM conveyed Pakistan’s concern on recent developments in Occupied Kashmir and the threat they pose to the regional peace.

They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan. The FM said the conversation between the two leaders was held in a cordial environment. They also agreed to remain in contact over the occupied Kashmir issue.

The telephone conversation lasted about 20 minutes.

Diplomatic sources termed the telephone conversation vital ahead of the United Nations Security Council session over Kashmir as the US is the permanent member of the council.

The UNSC was meeting behind closed doors on Friday at the request of Pakistan and China to discuss India’s decision to revoke the special status of occupied Kashmir.

The Foreign Minister said that the prime minister briefed Trump about the situation and danger which can arise in Kashmir following India’s move to end occupied Kashmir’s special status by abrogating Article 370 and 35A.

The council had taken up the issue of the critical situation in Indian occupied Kashmir after almost 50 years.

The FM further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and US President Donald Trump also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and decided to stay in touch consistently.

“The role we have played is for the betterment of the region, Pakistan and Afghanistan. We will continue to take such steps,” said Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
