
Change of guard ceremonies were held at the mausoleums of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal in the morning.
Active contingent of Pakistan Naval Academy cadets assumed ceremonial guard duty at the mausoleum with traditional spirit and customary enthusiasm to mark the 72nd Independence Day celebrations.
A floral wreath was laid by the chief guest on behalf of the naval staff chief, officers and men of Pakistan Navy. Later on, the chief guest offered Fateha and recorded his remarks in the visitor book and paid rich tribute to Quaid.

Prior, the day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in federal capital and twenty-one gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered at mosques for peace and prosperity of the country.
Pakistan is celebrating its 72nd Independence Day today with great splendor, joy and respect for the motherland.
On this auspicious occasion, roads and avenues have been decorated with illuminations, national flags, posters, and banners for Independence Day celebrations.
Independence Day is being observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day in Pakistan to express harmony and cohesion with Kashmiris. The entire nation in unified voice will reiterate moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiri brethren.
