Pakistan is celebrating its 72nd Independence Day today with great splendor, joy and respect for the motherland.
On this auspicious occasion, roads and avenues have been decorated with illuminations, national flags, posters, and banners for Independence Day celebrations.
Independence Day is being observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day in Pakistan to express harmony and cohesion with Kashmiris. The entire nation in unified voice will reiterate moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiri brethren.
The day started with thirty-one gun salute in federal capital and twenty-one gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered at mosques for peace and prosperity of the country.
Change of guard ceremonies were also held at the mausoleums of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal in the morning , while flag hoisting ceremonies will also be held at important national buildings and institutions in the provincial capitals.
While greeting the nation on 72nd Independence, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the country is facing challenges but we have to show unity and harmony to face the challenges and issues confronted by the country for achieving the national objectives of progress and prosperity.
President Arif Alvi addressed a flag hoisting ceremony at the convention centre in Islamabad and stated “We share the pain of the people of Kashmir and India must not forget that Kashmir dispute is between three parties.”
Dr Arif Alvi said that the unilateral decision to abolish the special status of Kashmir is an abhorrent conspiracy. He said that Kashmiris freedom struggle cannot be suppressed with repression.
