Supreme Court of Pakistan has given ultimatum to complete Orange line project by 2020.
According to the details, Supreme Court heard the case of Orange line in which an ultimatum was given to complete project by 2020. Justice Azmat headed the hearing.
During the hearing, Justice Azmat Saeed inquired secretary transport about completion of project and total amount spent till now.
Secretary transport told court that Rs169bn has been spent on the project upon which Justice Azmat Saeed asked that due to non-completion you’ll pay the extra amount?
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that Supreme Court under its supervision will make sure project is completed.
On this occasion Justice Umar Bandiyal remarked that project was started by previous government and was expected to complete by 2018.
Justice Aijaz Ul Hassan asked Sibtain Fazal that when will the project start? We were told that by November the project will start.
Project director Sibtain Fazal requested Supreme Court to allow time till 2020 to get the project up and running.
Supreme Court after hearing arguments, ordered project director Sibtain to complete the project by January 2020. The project will be supervised by Supreme Court.
