Economic growth is not possible without accountability: Dr Salman Shah

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, Dr Salman Shah said that economic growth impossible without transparent accountability and implementation on 100 percent merit while 70 years issues could not be resolved with winking of eye.

Dr Salman Shah stated that institutional reforms and good Governance with the rule of law is vital for long term growth. The NAB is a reality which could not be denied while positive steps were being taken for revival of trust in Bureaucracy.

He said in past effective planning was not made for stable economic growth besides poor planning for administrative matters.

He believed that the situation would be different of proper planning was made. He said the government will require Rs 5 billion subsidy and 25 billion loans to make metro operational. He said Rs 25 were being paid against the Rs 2 cost of electricity.

He said management flaws were major issue in all 56 companies of Punjab.

He said no objectives were set for companies in parliament or assembly nor any report on the performance was submitted.

He said Punjab economic plan is focusing on short mid and long term plans. Annual development plan and growth strategy are short and midterm plans while spital strategy focuses on 30 years plans.

Dr Salman Shah said that spital strategy focuses on the issues which were ignored by the governments in the past.

Under the strategy productivity of every districts industrial importance efficiency of the labor force and human resource were focused and plans made accordingly, he added

He said moving irrigation system to cities will be beneficial for the province.

He admitted that CPEC projects were slow down during the change of government but it will not affect the health of the projects. Completion of the CPEC projects will strengthen the bilateral ties between Pakistan and China.
