Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government will fully provide needed assistance and relief to the earthquake affected people.
While doing media talks in Mirpur district of Azad Kashmir, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that 24 people have been killed in the earthquake so far while 500 have been brought to the Divisional Hospital, Mirpur.
She said that a portable X-ray machine would be provided by the government at the Divisional Hospital Mirpur. The role of the Federal government and the government of AJK on restoration of earthquake victims is commendable.
The Special Assistant said that government will ensure the provision of compensation to the survivors of the earthquake.
She also paid homage to the nation’s spirit and said that whenever difficult times came upon this nation, everyone united, the nation is united in difficult times.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan also criticized the opposition and said opposition is busy in point scoring, we should help the earthquake victims out of politics, she added.
While giving a clarificationon her statement regarding earthquake Firdous Ashiq Awan said she regretted the statement and said it had been distorted and blown out of context, which she condemns, she added.
She said that a particular media group twisted my statement. She further stated that she was talking about the impact of social media, when the earthquake happened, causing anxiety among the audience as well.
Yesterday, Firdous Ashiq Awan had made a strange comment on the Earthquake while talking to media at a media training function, she linked the quake which shook Azad Kashmir and some parts of Pakistan as well with the PTI government’s slogan “Tabdeeli” (change).
She said toward the end of her speech, she said while referring to the earth quake, these were also signs that when any change took place, there would be agitation underneath.
