
Smartphones have become a symbol of fear for police in Punjab. IG Punjab banned the use of smart phones in the police stations.
According to details, IG Punjab Arif Nawaz has taken stern action of uploading a video on social media by Lady Constable and banned the use of mobile phones of police personnel across the province.
On the directives of the Inspector General Police Punjab (IGP), the CCPO has issued notification to RPOs and DPOs of all police stations of Punjab.
As per notification making or uploading Video by on duty officers is strictly prohibited, all policemen and officers in the police station will use a mobile phone without camera.
IG Punjab said that if a police officer will find using a mobile phone then there would be a strong action against the in charge.
The letter also stated that the staff members as well as complainants will have to handover their smartphones at the front desk before moving into the police stations.
Police violence was also reported in Faisalabad, the citizen was kept in illegal custody for two days.
Superintendent of police (SP) Sadar Naeem took an action against illegal detention of Mohammad Yar and the SHO and station in-charge have been arrested and also a case has been registered against them.
During a visit to the police station, SP Sadar Naeem got to know that the citizen was imprisoned for ten days on suspicion of theft.
It is pertinent to mention that IG Punjab had issued a letter to the RPOs, DPOs and DIGs across the province following the escalating incidents of custodial torture.
