Turkey has expressed grief over earthquake which jolted Azad Kashmir yesterday, and has offered assistance in rescue and relief activities to help the victims.
Sources declared that Turk ambassador had contacted the president of Kashmir showing immense grief over the loss of lives and possessions, which occurred due to earthquake in Mirpur and other areas of Kashmir.
The ambassador also offered assistance to rescue works and relief activities to the people of Kashmir. President Azaad Kashmir has expressed gratitude in response to the support offered by Turkey.
An earthquake jolted northern areas of country yesterday, which caused at least 30 deaths in Azaad Kashmir. However, Indian media is silent over this incident.
According to the latest updates, at least 30 people died and more than 450 people injured as the result of the earthquake.
Earthquake’s magnitude was over 5.8 whereas the earthquake was originated from 5 Km north from Jhelum. Apart from that, it was 10 Km deep in the earth.
The Government of Azad Kashmir announced strike in all public and private institutes of Mirpur District.
The earthquake sent people racing out of buildings and homes reciting Kalmas. However men, in the affected areas, spent the night on the roadsides, whereas, women took shelter in nearby public parks.
Three ambulances and a group of 12, consisting of doctors and staff of PIMS Hospital, have been dispatched to assist earthquake victims of Mirpur, Azad Kashmir.
According to the District management, injured are under-treatment at DHQ Mirpur and DHQ Mandan.
