Pakistan Air Force day is being celebrated across the country today to pay homage to the ghazis and martyrs of PAF.

A Wreath Laying Ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Pilot officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider, in which a contingent of Pakistan armed forces paid tribute to the national hero.

Air Vice Marshal Abbas Ghuman was the chief guest of the ceremony. He also laid a wreath at the grave of the Pilot officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed.

According to details, PAF day is observed following the heroic front and supreme sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, against its aggressor and numerically superior enemy with an unprecedented display of unity and resolve during the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

Defense Day reminds of the epic deeds of the brave warriors of Pakistan Air Force, who fought valiantly in the defense of motherland. It was on this historic day that a numerically superior enemy, dreaming of a quick victory, launched a massive attack against a peaceful country Pakistan in 1965.

While talking to media, Air Vice Marshal Abbas Ghuman said that India tried to enter Pakistan airspace after Pulwama attack and received a befitting response by Pakistan Air Force. Sacrifice of Rashid Minhas Shaheed is a torchbearer and Pakistan Air Force will never disappoint the nation.

Main ceremony of Pakistan Air force Day will be held at Air Headquarters Islamabad. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar will address the ceremony, whereas, special ceremonies are being held at all bases of Pakistan Air Force to pay homage to the martyrs who laid their lives while protecting the country from enemy.

A notable event of the war was that Pakistan Air Force flying ace Muhammad Mahmood Alam shot down five planes of Indian Air Force in less than a minute. However, 50 aircraft of Indian air force were shot down by Pakistan Air Force in two days.

It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.
