Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Wednesday that Pakistan’s forces have served in many African countries under UN peacekeeping missions for peace.

Addressing a two-day conference of diplomats in Islamabad, Pakistan and other countries in the region are facing challenges including security threats.

The minister said Pakistan is willing to promote defense and trade relations with African countries, adding, “We jointly want to enhance security situation in the region.”

Pakistan played an important role in freeing African countries from the colonial system, he stated.

The foreign minister said that over 700 diplomats are getting training in Islamabad.

He also said that we have initiated economic diplomacy under which we are committed to boosting exports and stabilizing the economy according to the vision of the leadership, utilizing efforts in multilateral economic sectors.

We look forward to connecting with African countries under the mutual principles of positive, meaningful and consistent development goals, said the minister.

Shah Mahmood hoped that this diplomatic conference will further strengthen our bilateral relations and economic cooperation with African countries.
