Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed announced the extension of Christmas special train service till 10th of January 2020.

Federal Minister of Railways announced in a video message on Monday.

He said the Christmas special train service extended till January 10.

The decision taken because of an increase in the number of passengers.

“A lot of people are travelling through trains nowadays because of fog,” he said.

The special train runs to and from Rawalpindi and Karachi.

Federal Minister of Railways requested the prime minister for an increase in the grades of all railway workers from grade one to 16.

“They will each be promoted a rank,”Federal Minister of Railways said.

“As soon as the court’s judgment comes out, all the temporary labour appointment employees be permanently appointed.”

Federal Minister of Railways announces Special Christmas Train

Earlier, on 24th of this month,  Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed announced a special train for Christians on the occasion of Christmas.

With a 20 % discount on tickets, Train left Rawalpindi Station at 10 am on Dec 25 for Karachi.

Likewise, on Dec 26, the special train also left Karachi at 6:30 pm to head back to Rawalpindi.

Christians all over the world, including Pakistan, celebrated Christmas on Wednesday.

Special services held in Churches across the world to celebrate the festival.

Pakistan Railways bans smoking

Today Pakistan Railways has put ban on smoking in trains, railway stations and its offices across the country.

Reports said Pakistan Railways has banned smoking in trains, railways stations and its offices across the country,

Reports cited Inspector General of Railways and said a detailed circular also issued.

The ban imposed under the Anti-Tobacco Ordinance 2002 on the recommendation of the Ministry of National Health

The smoking banned for vendors, waiters, hawkers, coolies and others at a railway station.

The order warned of disciplinary action under the relevant law in case of violation of smoking ban.

The train driver, conductor guard, waiting room managers, authorized officers to enforce the law, the letter further said.

Meanwhile, the ASI or higher officers of the railway police authorized to act under the law.

The  police will be responsible for enforcement of the law at a particular railway station, the circular added.

Let it be known that the sale of cigarettes is already ban on the station and its premises, however, the smokers are violating the law.
