Karachi: Section 144 imposed on New Year

Section 144 will be imposed across the city on this new year.

The section will be imposed from the start of 30th December till 1 pm, 1st January on the eve of the new years in Karachi.

According to the Sindh Home Department notification, pillion riding will also be banned from 12 am, December 30 to 1 pm, 1st January.

One-wheeling and riding motorcycles without silencers on New Year’s Eve is also banned to prevent accidents and public nuisance.

A ban on carrying of weapons and celebratory gunfire in the air has also been imposed in the city.

Police develop a strategy against noisy motorists and unlicensed motorcyclists on the streets for this new year.

Police have imposed additional personnel duties in public places to tackle any untoward incident and have also started snap checking from place to place.

Commissioner Karachi appealed to the citizens to observe the occasion in the realms of decency and bearing in mind their civic duties, along with this Iftikhar Shalwani also revealed that K-Electric (KE) will also abstain from unneeded power outages on the occasion.

On the other hand, Islamabad police have also issued a security plan for New Year night.

According to Islamabad police spokesman, there will be action against one-wheeler, non-silencer motorcycle riding and un-plate vehicles and motorcycles.
