Pakistan Peoples Party Leader Khursheed Shah’s bail granted on today.
According to the details, Accountability court of Sukkur ordered to release PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah on a family undertaking of Rs. 5 million.
NAB presented him again in Judge Amir Ali Mehsar’s accountability court today on the completion of a five-day judicial remand by Syed Khurshid Shah, the central leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, arrested for allegedly making over-the-counter assets.
The PPP leader was brought to the court by ambulance from National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Hospital where a large number of workers welcomed him.
The hearing was postponed because of the delay of NAB prosecutor.
However, when the prosecution resumed after the NAB prosecutor came to court, the prosecutor requested Khurshid Shah’s further 15-day judicial remand.
Khurshid Shah’s lawyer and senior lawmaker Raza Rabbani opposed, saying that Khurshid Shah was being subjected to political retaliation.
Rabbani added that 90 days have passed since my client was arrested, but the NAB has not made any reference or has not provided any evidence so this case should be dismissed.
Multiple corruption cases against Shah were under investigation with NAB.
In 2012, an accountability court had directed NAB to file a reference against him on a complaint pertaining to alleged accumulation of illegitimate assets.
In 2013, NAB had reopened two corruption cases against Shah under the directives of the Lahore High Court.
In July this year, NAB Chairman retired justice Javed Iqbal had approved nine inquiries against different personalities, including Shah.
