Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is determined to form technology parks in universities across Pakistan.

She said that inauguration of Pakistan’s first special technology zone and park is a sign of special importance given to the technology sector in Naya Pakistan.

In a tweet, the SAPM said that no field of life is complete without technology whose importance cannot be denied in the modern era.

Firdous Ashiq added that the inauguration of technology parks will be an important step towards the promotion of a knowledge-based economy.

It will provide a platform for creative minds to sit and create opportunities and take practical steps for developing a technology-based economy, she said.

Firdous further added that the inauguration of Pakistan’s first National Science and Technology Park in Islamabad in the vicinity of (NUST) by the premier is a manifestation of the importance that is given to technology in Naya Pakistan.

“It will prove to be a vital step towards the growth of economy based on education. It will provide a platform to creative minds to unite and produce opportunities for practical development of economy based on technology”, said the SAPM.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that NUST’s project will play a bridge between academia and industry, which will foster digital economy and promote research and development in the country.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated Pakistan’s first National Science and Technology Park (NSTP) in Islamabad.

According to the details, the science and technology park is located in the vicinity of University in Islamabad and being hailed as the country’s largest innovation and research ecosystem.

The high-tech IT Park houses more than forty companies, including start-ups, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and tech giants.

According to the University’s statement, the park will serve as a Launchpad for the country’s leading researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhary Fawwad Hussain also briefed about the inauguration of the park in his tweet on Monday.
