Lahore high court has issued a notice to Federal and provincial governments over spreading CCTV footage on social media and affecting people’s privacy. The high court has also demanded details of the steps taken to provide security to the citizens in the presence of CCTV cameras.

According to details, Lahore high court justice Jawad Hassan heard the request of Salman Sufi-who works for the rights of women. In this hearing, concerns have been expressed over destroying the privacy of common citizens in the presence of CCTV cameras.

This is the first and unique case that Lahore High-court has heard regarding privacy matters in the presence of CCTV.

The applicant’s lawyer Anas Mashhood presented before the court and presented his points to ensure the protection of people’s privacy in the presence of CCTV.

It should be remembered that in recent times private CCTV footage of public places got viral on social media and violated the privacy of common citizens.

Jawad Hassan had accepted it for the regular hearing after the initial proceedings and has asked for a response from the provincial and federal government.

An incident had happened at a famous cinema a few months ago in which private footage of people got viral on social media.

Apart from that, the incident that had occurred in Balochistan University was also concerned in the hearing. Female students were allegedly blackmailed and harassed through secret videos at Balochistan University.
