Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia has arrived in Islamabad today.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud has arrived at the office of the ministry of foreign affairs. Foreign minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi has received him.

Both foreign ministers conducted a meeting in which they talked over bilateral relations, regional circumstances and matters of mutual interests.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi also showed gratitude to the minister for supporting Pakistan on Kashmir issue. Both ministers also agreed to keep on maintaining bilateral gatherings on Kashmir conflict.

It is expected that Prime Minister Imran Khan and other leaders will also meet Saudi Foreign Minister during his one-day visit.

According to the sources, foreign minister’s purpose to visit Pakistan was to thank PM Imran Khan for not attending Kuala Lumpur Summit.

The Foreign Office had issued a statement on Wednesday in which it was said, “This would be his maiden visit to Pakistan, during which the exchange of views would cover bilateral matters and regional issues of mutual interest,”

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy a “deep-rooted and long-lasting fraternal relationship, and both the countries aim to strengthen relations further in all matters.”

It was also written in the press release, “Frequent high-level visits are a key feature of the relationship and serve to further deepen and broaden mutual collaboration,”

Given that Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud was appointed as the foreign minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in October.

He was the former ambassador to Germany and was a one-time advisor to Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.

Ibrahim al-Assaf was the foreign Minister before Farhan was appointed. He remained in the office for less than a year.
