State Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi said that there is no interference or political victimization in Rana Sanaullah’s legal proceedings.
According to details, Minister of Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi said in a press conference today that neither he nor Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Afridi addressed the press conference a day after Rana Sanaullah was granted bail by Lahore high court.
Rana was also ordered to submit two surety bonds each of Rs1 million.
It should be remembered that the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had filed a drug case against Rana Sanaullah.
Afridi said that the case was still in courts as Sanaullah had been granted bail. He added that he is not acquitted.
Shehryar Afridi further said, “Did the Prime Minister arrest him (Sanaullah)? Did I? Certainly not,”
“We did not interfere in his legal proceedings, there is no victimization at any level.”
Apart from that, he said “Time will prove this. This is the season of bails,”
“Remember that the Anti-Narcotics Force is a professional force. We need to strengthen institutions, Shehryar will come and go, rulers will come and go, the real thing is the institutions of Pakistan.”
Note that the ANF team had arrested former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah while he was going to Lahore from Faisalabad near Ravi Toll Plaza on the motorway on July 1st.
The team had also arrested five others, including Rana’s driver and security guards.
ANF also claimed that they had seized 15kg heroin from his vehicle.
Afridi had said after Sanaullah’s arrest that ANF possessed ‘complete footage’ of the PML-N Punjab President before ANF arrest him.
