Two Policemen martyred on polio duty

At least two policemen deployed on polio duty martyred in Lower Dir on Thursday.

According to details, both deployed for security of Polio Team.

Lower Dir Deputy Superintendent Police Saeedur Rehman said the incident took place in Maidan area of the city.

He said policemen targeted on their way to basic health unit.

The workers remained safe as they were at a distance from the incident.

However, Rehman said search operation is underway to find out the culprits.

However, according to initial reports, the suspects managed to escape from the scene, said Rehman.

Wednesday marks the third day of the five-day campaign currently underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Around 22,925 teams constituted to vaccinate 6.75 million children below the age of five.

Moreover, the campaign focused on eradicating polio outbreak.

On the other hand,  a family attacked team in Sargodha city of Punjab province.

They beat team members Rahim Bakhsh and Mohammad Saghir.

The family denied and beat the members upon convincing.

Police rushed to the scene as soon the incident was reported.

The suspect who tortured the team escaped on the spot.

The police station has registered a case against the accused.

Anti Polio drive initiated in 33 districts of Baluchistan, including Quetta.

Today is the last day of the anti-polio campaign in 30 districts of Baluchistan.

Anti-polio campaign to continue in high-risk districts Quetta, Pishin and Fort Abdullah.

Polio campaign aims to vaccinate with polio and vitamin A drops to children under the age of five.

The campaign aims to vaccinate 2.5 million children in Baluchistan province.

Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) also launched a special campaign.

The campaign launched in the public sector schools of the federal capital.

The campaign will continued till December 20.

Under the campaign, students aged till five years would be vaccinated.
