Planning Minister Asad Umar on Monday addresses a press conference in Karachi after meeting the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) (MQM-P) leaders.

Asad Umar said efforts are under way to convince MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi to withdraw his resignation and include him in the cabinet.

He said Siddiqi has not taken his resignation back.

He said Khalid Maqbool is stiff on his stance of not backing on his decision.

Asad Umar added, “We have apprised the MQM-P leaders regarding development in Karachi.”

He said the government is working on different schemes to provide job opportunities to the youth.

He said, “Whatever steps the government will take, they will be for the betterment of the people.”

Asad Umar pointed out the government will give briefing on all uplift projects initiated in Karachi.

To a question, he said Sindh governor is doing an excellent job and there are no plans to replace him.

On the other hand, MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui spoke to the press after meeting a delegation of the ruling party led by Asad Umar today.

On the other hand, MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that there “nothing sensational” in his press conference where he announced his surprise resignation.

He reiterated that his party would remain an ally of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.

“We promised to support the government with our numbers and we will continue to do that,” said Khalid Maqbool.

Both Umar and Siddiqui told reporters that the meeting was pre-planned.

They rubbished rumours that the Centre was holding negotiations with the MQM-P.

The PTI delegation arrived at the party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad.

Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi and MPA Khurram Sher Zaman were also part of the government delegation.

MQM-P delegation included convener Siddiqui, Amir Khan, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Aminul Haque.

Yesterday, (MQM-P) leader Khalid Maqbool had announced to leave Federal Cabinet.

According to the details, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressed a press conference in Karachi.

He said there were two agreements with the PTI one on Bani Gala and other based on Bahadurabad.

He said the contracts signed in the presence of Jahangir Tareen, a close associate of the Prime Minister Imran Khan.
