Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, Provisional Minister of Punjab  while quoting the ongoing flour crisis in Sindh, took a jibe at Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah termed him as disqualified.

Provisional Minister of Punjab Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan was addressing Lahore on Tuesday.

He said the current chief minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah incompetent and cannot control the on going crisis of flour in Sindh.

Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan said there is no crisis of flour in Punjab.

He said the federal dispatched .04 million tonnes of wheat to Sindh but the Sindh Government only released 0.1 million.

He said the Sindh is facing crisis due to incompetence of Bilawal Administration.

It should be noted that The new price list for per kg flour  hiked  up to Rs 75 per kg for the first time ever in different parts of the country.

The nanbais gone to strike in various parts of the government and have closed their “Tandoors” (ovens) after they failed to reach any conclusion during “negotiations” with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

A bag super fine wheat flour weighing 85 kg sold for Rs 5,200 and a 20 kg bag is being sold for Rs 1,100 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the witnesses, nanbais demanded the price of roti (weighing 170g) fixed at Rs 15 while claiming that wood and gas tariffs increased.

The rate of per kg wheat flour is more than Rs 60 per kg due to its artificial shortage in the open market.

The whole sake rate of per kg flour is Rs 64 while the shopkeepers are charging white flour for up to Rs Rs. 80. Nanbais, consequently, have raised roti and naan prices by Rs2 in the city.

Despite that the subsidized wheat flour not available at specific sale points allocated by utility stores and the district administration, the administration been claiming that 80 points established for the provision of 10kg wheat bags with price fixed at Rs402 per bag.

The administration further stated that action taken for complaints after a daily supply of 29,335 bags each weighing 20kg at those sale points.

Long queues of people seen at the subsidized wheat flour sale points established by the local administrations in different cities.

In other cities of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala, the wheat flour  being sold at Rs70 per kg.

Within last few days, the flour’s price has increased by Rs6 in Lahore.

People  forced to buy flour at highest-ever price of up to Rs70 per kg.

The growers holding the flour mill owners and the government responsible for the “Aatta crisis” in Lahore.

Nanbais Strike

On the other hand Nanbais shutter down strike in Khyber Pakhtun Khwa entered in second consecutive day.

The Nanbai Association protesting against the rise of flour prices and suspension of wheat supply from Punjab.

The association said that flour prices increased tremendously while flour not coming from Punjab; therefore, not possible to sell Loave (Nan) at previous rates.

The association said that strike would continue until a new rate list issued.

On Monday, local authorities’ detained four Nanbai for shutting down their shops.

CM Punjab on Flour Crisis

Moreover Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar announced that Punjab government to dispatch “5,000 tons” of wheat.

The wheat to dispatch to KP on daily basis.

CM Punjab said helping the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is their responsibility.

“Punjab government will provide wheat from its stock as a goodwill gesture to help overcome the flour shortage.”

Furthermore Managing Director Utility Stores Corporation (USC), Umer Lodhi denied all rumours regarding shortage of wheat flour at Utility stores,

He said timely smooth supply of required flour stock available in all USC stores to fulfill the demand of people.

He said due to its high demand and supply the sale of wheat flour increases.

But USC administration had taken emergency measures to ensure the availability of wheat flour in all stores.
