ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Khusro Bakhtiar on Sunday claimed that wheat flour prices will start reducing across the country by tomorrow (January 20).

According to details, the flour’s prices has surged by Rs 6 per kg and a bag of 1 kilogram flour will be sold at Rs 70. This has been witnessed for the second time in the past couple of weeks. The prices has been hiked by Rs2o in PTI’s government period.

PM Imran took notice of the matter and designated Jahangir Tareen and Minister for National Food Security and Research Khusro Bakhtiar to look for an immediate resolution over the inflation-related crisis.

The government will lift the duty on importing wheat in order to control soaring flour prices in the country.

PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen announced this after he and National Food Security and Research Minister Khusro Bakhtiar were tasked with looking into the crisis. The public is up in arms over the price hike and has been calling on the government to control it.

Prime Minister Imran Khan tasked Tareen and Bakhtiar with resolving the issue and their solution is to import more wheat.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif said there has never been a flour shortage like this in the country’s history. Speaking to the media in London, he said Pakistan’s situation is very critical.

Earlier on today, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Firdous Ashiq Awan, said some elements have continued negative propaganda regarding wheat flour prices.

Firdous Ashiq said she has given the task to deal with the matter related to the artificial crisis of wheat flour in Punjab.

Firdous Ashiq addressed a press conference in Sialkot today.

She was of the view that it is necessary to stop negative propaganda.

Sindh government has not purchased wheat on time.

It is the federal government’s responsibility to provide food across the country.
