The Gas pipeline supplying gas from Sindh to Punjab caught fire and exploded on late Tuesday night, Bol News reported today.
As per details, The main gas pipeline supplying gas to Punjab from Sindh caught fire after an explosion near Sadiqabad
According to Assistant Commissioner Sadiqabad, Amir Iftekhar, the fire broke out at the main gas pipeline near Sadiqabad.
The pipeline quickly engulfed nearby sugarcane fields.
He further informed that emergency declared in the district and residents of the nearby localities asked to vacate their homes and shift to safer places.
He said that the cause of explosion not yet known.
Heavy contingent of police and rescue teams from entire district asked to reach the spot.
Sui gas officials have also reached the spot and started repair work.
On the other hand the spokesperson of Sui Gas said the investigation has been initiated to identify the cause of explosion.
In 2017, at least 15 people wounded when a gas pipeline exploded in Karachi .
The explosion took place in a busy Site area.
According to reports, three auto rickshaws parked near the blast site caught fire.
However Those injured in the explosion rushed to nearby hospitals for medical aid.
Officials of Sui Southern Gas Pipleline (SSGP) immediately called in to assess the damage and carry out the repair work.
