Prime Minister Imran Khan said that setting up of model police stations was only “the beginning” and the initiative reflects the “new mindset” in new Pakistan.

While addressing an inaugurating ceremony of the Model Police Station in his hometown of Mianwali, the Prime minister said it was important that people  get a “sense of confidence” when they approach a police station for the resolution of their problems.

Prime Minister Imran was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to inaugurate the Model Police Station and received a guard of honor presented by Punjab police personnel.

Mianwali Model Police Station is compatible with modern requirements for active policing. Where monitoring rooms and control rooms have also been set up. For the first time, non-smoking lockup has also been established.

Imran Khan said that police reforms is essential for society He stressed that the people’s trust in the police would have to be restored and government will have to reform Punjab Police. .

Usman Bazdar said the move was an indication of a change in the culture of the police station. The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a model police station in each district.

The Prime Minister said that “This is a modern police station and will facilitate people,Previously, politicians used to appoint their cronies to control police stations,” he added.

It should be noted that 29 model police stations have been set up throughout the province where CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the police’s performance.

The Premier also inaugurated the Huawei ICT Lab at the NAMAL Institute in Mianwali, taday.
