Earlier veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah raised serious concern over the India’s Citizenship Amendment Act.
According to the details, he said “If living 70 years here and doing whatever I could, does not prove me to be in India, I don’t know what does. About the present circumstances, he said succinctly, “I am not afraid, I am not anxious, I am angry,” said the actor.
In an exclusive interview to one of the Indian news website, he asked that why the big names of the film industry have kept silent over the situation.
He said “silence of big-name stars is not surprising. They feel they have a lot to lose. But even Deepika Padukone has a lot to lose and she did come out in public to show her solidarity.”
Naseeruddin Shah also said he never felt that being a Muslim was a handicap. But now he is reminded of that identity all the time, which is very worrying.
He also raised question that Indian prime minister Modi himself follows hate spewers on Twitter and Modi himself never having been a student so his lack of empathy and compassion towards students is not astonishing and bewildering.
Bollywood celebrities including Deepika Padukon,Tapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Richa Chadda, Swara Bhasker, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, Konkona Sen, Sonam kapoor showed their support to JNU students and teachers who were attacked on campus by masked mob.
Many celebrities also reached JNU and expressed their solidarity with students.
on the other hand these celebrities are slammed by Indian nationalist on Twitter and they have been called Anti-national for raising their voice against the violence on unarmed students of JNU.
