
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday embarked on a three-day visit to United States (US) amid Iran-US conflict.
According to a press release, Shah Mehmood Qureshi will reach New York on Wednesday (today).
He will meet United Nations’ (UN) leadership including the Secretary-General.
The foreign minister will leave for Washington on January 16.
There he will meet Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien and other senior Administration officials.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi will also have meetings on the Capitol Hill, besides engagements with the media, think tank community and the Pakistani Diaspora.
In the official talks, the FM will focus on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach.
It has undertaken on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan in the wake of the recent tensions in the Middle East.
Earlier, FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi has offered heartfelt condolences on the behalf of President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on the sad demise of Oman’s Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said.
On the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan FM Qureshi has invited Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said to visit Pakistan.
He condoles with Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said during the meeting.
In a tweet on social networking website Twitter, the foreign minister praised Sultan Qaboos and said that he a great man.
He further prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Earlier on Sunday, FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran amid Iran-US tensions.
However, the foreign minister said that Pakistan will not join any war in the region.
But, it will continue to play a vibrant and positive role for establishment of lasting peace.
