Few parliament members draft a bill in the Senate Secretariat to increase the salaries of the Senate chairman, the deputy chairman, the National Assembly Speaker and the Deputy Speaker by 400 percent.
Parliament members draft the bill in which they proposed to increase the salary of National Assembly Members by 100 percent. They also proposed upward revision in the traveling allowance for senate lawmakers and their families.
Parliament members have demanded increment in their draft under consideration of “price hike and devaluation of the rupee”.
Also, parliament members suggested changes in Deputy Chairman and Deputy Chairman Act 1975 to raise the salaries of Deputy Chairman and NA Deputy Speaker. They suggested increased from Rs185,000 to Rs829,000, similar to the salary of Islamabad High Court Judge.
The Senate passed a bill that not only increases paid maternity leave of working mothers but also grants paid paternity leave, BOL News reported on 28th January.
The Senate, for the first time in the country, passed paid Paternity leave bill along with Maternity leaves.
The bill makes it mandatory for employers to grant six-months paid maternity leave and three-months paid paternity leave.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Quratulain Marri moved the bill on private members’ day that passed by the house with majority of vote.
Establishments include any public or private organization, corporation, autonomous or semi-autonomous body, and any corporate body or enterprise.
On their demand, the employees shall also be provided with an additional three months optional unpaid maternity and one month paternity leave, separately from their leave account.
