Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired the meeting of Sindh Public Safety Commission in Karachi.

During the meeting, a five-member committee comprising three members of provincial assembly and two independent members was constituted to review the rules and regulation of the commission.

Addressing the meeting Murad Ali Shah said that law and order situation in Karachi city is improving day by day due to cooperation extended by people.

Yesterday, the federal government has agreed on the name of Mushtaq Mahar as Sindh top cop.

One-on-one meeting held between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Governor Sindh at the Prime Minister’s House in Federal capital Islamabad, the government has agreed to replace IG Sindh Kaleem Imam from Mushtaq Maher.

The notification will likely to be issued in 48 hours.

Earlier last week, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan to remove Inspector General (IG) of Police Kaleem Imam.

CM Sindh asked PM Imran Khan to pick one of the five names recommended by the provincial government to replace IG Sindh.

This is the third letter the province’s chief executive has written to the premier on the issue of appointment of a new IG.

The chief minister said the federal cabinet’s Jan 28 decision to put the issue on hold is a violation of a 1993 agreement.

He insisted that one of the five names floated for the post be chosen to replace the incumbent IG.

CM Murad said Kaleem Imam’s attitude breeds hatred in the province as he has been degrading the provincial government with his non-serious and rude attitude.

Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani had  also accused the federal government of dragging its feet on appointment of a new police chief in the province.

Saeed Ghani said the provincial government is in no mood to suggest another name for the slot of IG Sindh.

Saeed Ghani lamented that the federal government didn’t want to replace the IG Sindh despite the fact that a consensus reached on two names.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan met with IG Sindh Police Kaleem Imam.

During the meeting, security as well as other important matters of the province discussed in the meeting.

Earlier, PM Imran summoned IG Sindh Kaleem Imam after differences between Sindh government and police grew.

PM summoned Kaleem Imam due to growing tensions between IGP Sindh and the provincial government.
