Balochistan on partial lockdown to contain spread of COVID-19

The Balochistan government has decided to impose partial lockdown in the province for 21 days, according to a notification issued by the Additional Home Secretary.

However, all restaurants will be able to provide home-delivery food for 3 weeks. In addition, inter-provincial, provincial and inter-city public transport will also be closed for three weeks.

The notification issued by Balochistan Department of Interior will be enforced from tomorrow.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister addressed a press conference and said that the federal government will not do complete lockdown as the impact of it on country’s economy will be disastrous.

Government of Balochistan imposes Section 144 across province

The Prime Minister said that his government is not censoring anything from the Public adding that it will be difficult to treat the pandemic if authorities were not transparent on cases emerging throughout the country, will inform the people about the Coronavirus situation in a week again, he added.

The Premier also directed Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to issue guidelines to ensure news channels did not spread panic.

PM Imran said that chaos and anarchy was an even bigger threat than the coronavirus and he also warned the media not to spread anarchy.

He also directed all federal ministers to remain available in Islamabad.

PM said government will also make decisions based on China’s actions as China took better action against Corona virus and he has been in constant touch with the Chinese government since January.

PM Imran urges nation not to panic amid coronavirus pandemic

Prime Minister Imran Khan said he himself monitoring  the situation on a daily basis.

The foreign minister said that China overcame the threat from the coronavirus as its people implemented the government’s instructions religiously.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi emphasized that the Pakistani people need to follow suit and unite in the face of this challenge.
