Govt taking various steps to control overpopulation: President

President Dr Arif Alvi Wednesday said Pakistan was facing challenges like growth in population and called upon all the stakeholders to share their responsibility of tackling those issues through joints efforts.

According to the details, Speaking at a ceremony held here in connection with the launching of Parliamentary Forum on Population, the president said public representatives, Ulema and media had a critical role to create awareness and educate the masses.

The ceremony was attended by diplomats, parliamentarians and experts. Welcoming the launch of forum, the president said population growth gave rise to issues like poverty, food security and lack of education about health, and stressed upon identification and awareness over such issues.

According to the sources of APP, Leader of the House in Senate Shibili Faraz, in his address while sharing concerns over the population growth, termed the creation of forum on population a big step, which would give political ownership to all the efforts to control population in the country.

President Dr. Arif Alvi urges religious scholars to play key role in nation building

Earlier on Monday, President Dr. Arif Alvi said that religious scholars must play a key role in nation building and resolving of social issues.

Radio Pakistan reported President Dr. Arif Alvi  addressed a brainstorming session with the religious scholars in Islamabad.

Dr. Arif Alvi said religious scholars have an important role in the fields of education and health as well as protection of environment.

Arif Alvi stressed that there is dire need to promote the message of cleanliness and sanitation through the mosques to save our population from different diseases including communicable ones.

He said greater awareness needs to be created amongst the people as to how they could stay save from coronavirus.
