Newly appointed Minister for Information Syed Shibli Faraz has said all-out efforts would be made to transform the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on modern lines as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In a series of tweets, he said he will strive to improve the image of country, highlight the government policies and making Ministry of Information more credible.

Shibli Faraz said he will play the role of a bridge between the government and the media.

He also thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for entrusting him for this important responsibility.

Yesterday, Senator Shibli Faraz has taken oath as the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

The oath taking ceremony held in Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.

President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath to him. The new role assumed by Shibli Faraz was vacant since April 2019, when Fawad Chaudhry, who earlier held the information portfolio, took his current office.

Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Shibli Faraz as Federal Information Minister.

While, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman and former DG ISPR Lt Gen (R) Asim Bajwa made Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

Furthermore, Federal Minister for Science & Technology Fawad Chaudhry confirmed the appointments.

He tweeted: “Truly an honorable and dignified man Shibli Faraz has been appointed new Information minister of Pak, and a brilliant Asim Bajwa appointed SAPM on info both ll make a great team…. all the best”

Why Firdous Ashiq Awan replaced?

Prior to his retirement, Lt. Gen. (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa held other important positions including Director General Inter Service Public Relations (DG ISPR) from 2012 to 2016.

However, on 11 December 2016 he had appointed as Inspector General Arms at GHQ.

Later, he held charge of Commander Southern Command & XII Corps (Pakistan) in September 2017.

In November last year after his retirement, the federal government appointed Asim Bajwa head of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.
