The Parliamentary Committee on Coronavirus Monitoring held its first meeting today (Monday).
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar summoned the first meeting of the 25-member parliamentary committee on coronavirus pandemic on April 6.
National Assembly speaker had formed the 25-member parliamentary committee comprising members from both the houses of the Parliament — Senate and National Assembly — with the consultation of the government and opposition.
The parliamentary committee periodically reviewed issues related to coronavirus disease and its impact on the economy.

Chairman NDMA
Moreover Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal said over 3800 ventilators are available in the country, while two thousand more will be imported from China.
He said five hundred ventilators will reach Pakistan on Thursday, while 29,000 protective kits for doctors and paramedics provided to provinces.
Chairman NDMA said 137 hospitals, have exclusively been dedicated for the patients of Coronavirus. He said 22 laboratories are working across the country.
Abdul Hafeez Sheikh
Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, the prime minster’s aide on finance, and Adviser Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood discussed the economic and business recovery plan devised in the wake of the current economic challenge.
Furthermore Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Federal Minister for Information Technology Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema and Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed among others who attended the meeting.
