Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced an incentivized package for the construction industry in the wake of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While speaking to media after chairing a meeting at the National Command Centre office the premier said that in order to increase employment opportunities in the country it is necessary to maintain ‘a balance’ between the lockdown and economic activity.
The Prime minister said those who invest in the construction sector will not be asked questions about their source of income adding that fixed tax will be introduced in construction sector now.
PM Imran also said ninety percent fixed tax will be removed and investor will have to pay only ten percent tax if he invests in construction projects under Naya Pakistan Housing Authority.
Imran Khan said that except steel and cement withholding tax on construction will be exempted from all sectors.
He said sales tax is also being brought down in coordination with the provinces adding that there will be no capital gains tax for a family that sells its house.
The Prime Minister said to promote the construction industry, a Construction Industry Development Board is also being set up.
During his visit to National Command and Operation Centre for COVID-19 in Islamabad today PM Imran appreciated the establishment of the National Command and Operation Centre and progress made by it so far.
Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated that there must be no compromise on availability of essential food items and sustainability of supply lines throughout the country.
He emphasized the need to render untiring efforts for effective enforcement of the decisions through National Command and Operation Center to contain the outbreak of Novel coronavirus across the country.
The premier stressed to prioritize the efforts and enforce the decisions of the NCOC through regular and timely meetings under the leadership of Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Asad Umer.
He warned that strict actions will be taken against hoarders and smugglers and will be made an example.
Earlier, Federal Minister Asad Umer and DG Operations and Planning NCOC Major General Asif Mehmood Goraya were briefed the Prime Minister about the latest situation of the killer disease, measures taken thus far and future course of action for containment efforts.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa was also present during the Prime Minister’s visit.
It is to be noted that National Command and Operation Center is nerve centre to synergize and articulate the unified national effort against COVID-19, and to implement the decisions of National Coordination Committee on it.
