Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that he will personally supervise the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for train operations.

He was addressing media on Tuesday. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said the ministry is operating trains on loss just to facilitate the people on Eid.  Railways is not a profit making organization, it is for the convenience of the people, 60% tickets have been reduced, no more concessions will be given, more trains will be added to Peshawar if needed, three trains are running from Peshawar.

Moreover Sheikh Rashid said that Shahbaz Sharif’s case is very serious, his name is considerations to put on Exit Control List (ECL), NAB will take serious actions by July 31, Prime Minister has full support of Punjab Government. Sheikh Rashid said Imran Khan will complete his term as Prime Minister, Imran Khan is not challenged by any party.

Earlier today DS Railways Amir Nisar has said 30 trains will run in the first phase of the operation after railway operation resumes from tomorrow.

“We have completed our homework on the resumption of train operation and will have a full dress rehearsal today,” he said. He added the first train Pakistan Express will depart from Rawalpindi from Karachi at 6 am, while the second one will leave from Lahore for Rawalpindi at 7 am.

“SOPs will be strictly followed during the train service,” Nisar said, “Passengers have been asked to arrive one hour before departure.” “Passengers will be provided with face masks, gloves and sanitizers at the station.” “Anyone found violating SOPs will be fined Rs 500, while Rs 1,000 will be imposed if found violating safety precautions for a second time. The third time passengers will be asked to disembark the train,”
