Balochistan’s sea production is our precious asset, CM Balochistan

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that the long coastline and sea production of Balochistan are our valuable assets which can be utilized in the true sense to increase employment opportunities and economic activities in the coastal areas.

According to details, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan while addressing a meeting to review the progress of development projects in the fisheries sector said that the meeting was held through video link in view of precautionary measures to fight against coronavirus.

Stressing on the need to implement cage farming and landing jetty projects as soon as possible, the Chief Minister Balochistan said that many countries of the world have increased their marine production through cage farming to increase the international market for marine products. They have taken the lead and now they are strengthening their economy by earning a lot of foreign exchange.

Jam Kamal Khan also said that the long coastline and climate of Balochistan are very suitable for cage farming while our beautiful coastline is also attractive for tourism.

Balochistan Chief Minister said, we have to make full use of our natural resources to offset the economic losses of Coronavirus.

Jam Kamal Khan also directed the Fisheries Department to accelerate the process of land acquisition from the Revenue Department for construction of landing jetties and cage farming and to attract the private sector. The Secretary Fisheries informed that Swift is providing loans for the projects and the provincial government has allocated Rs 1,500 million for bridge financing.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan further said that as per the guidance of the Chief Minister, implementation of federal and provincial funding schemes for cage farming and landing jetties would be started soon.

Chief Secretary Fazil Asghar Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Secretary Finance and Secretary Fisheries attended the meeting from their respective offices.
