Pakistan confirms more than 500 deaths due to the novel coronavirus also known as Covid-19, after 40 more deaths reported in past 24 hours.

National Command and Operation Centre said that Pakistan confirms 526 deaths due to the novel coronavirus also known as Covid-19, after 40 more deaths reported in past 24 hours. However the total number of confirmed cases in the country have surged to 22,550.

Sindh reported 8189, Punjab reported 8133, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 3499, Balochistan cases tally hit 1321, Gilgit Baltistan stands with total cases 372 and Azad Kashmir reported 71 cases. According to National Command and Operation Centre, till now 6,217 patients recovered from the virus, while 15,233 are still treated at hospitals and the quarantine facilities across the country.

Record 10,178 tests conducted in the country during last 24 hours to detect the virus. The total number of the tests stand at 2,32,582.

The Sindh government has decided to ban Eid greetings including shaking hands and embracing after the Eid prayer to maintain the social distancing amidst coronavirus pandemic. Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah while talking to a private TV channel said that people should not hug on Eid to avoid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic adding that large gatherings for Eid should be banned.

Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that the federal cabinet has decided to donate one month’s salary to the Corona Relief Fund. Talking to the media after the meeting of the federal cabinet, He said that on the directions of the Supreme Court, regarding the appointments in the Cabinet Division, all the Ministries were requested to provide details of the appointments made in the previous governments without approval, on which six or seven divisions have submitted their reports.
