Federal Cabinet approves decisions of ECC: Shibli Faraz

Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that Federal Cabinet approved the decisions of Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC).

According to details, after the federal cabinet meeting, Information Minister Shibli Faraz while giving a news briefing said that a seven-point agenda was discussed in the cabinet meeting.

The Information Minister said that the decisions of the Cabinet Committee on Energy were ratified in the meeting while the Prime Minister directed to expedite the reforms in the energy sector.

Shibli Faraz also said that the Prime Minister said in the meeting that PTI is the only party which has introduced reforms in the electoral process while reforms in the energy sector are the government’s priority.

The Information Minister said that in the meeting, the Cabinet directed to re-refer the matter to the concerned committee regarding fixing the subsidy price of cotton while the Cabinet approved the names of the National Commission for the Status of Women but the members would be decided by the Prime Minister.

He said that the Cabinet had approved the application of Pakistan Essential Services Act 1952 on all employees of National Institutional Facilitation Technology and the approval has been given for 6 months.

Shibli Faraz also said that the Cabinet approved the appointment of Member National Accounts and Member Census in the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and also approved the audit to rectify the irregularities in the affairs of Karachi Port Trust (KPT).

The Information Minister said that a committee headed by Dr. Ishrat has been set up to bring in the best manpower in government agencies. The committee will make recommendations on recruitment at senior level within a week.

Shibli Faraz also said that the cabinet was informed that irregular appointments were made in 12 ministries while the report of irregular appointments was presented in the cabinet meeting.

Giving a briefing, the Information Minister said that the Prime Minister had expressed concern over the illegal appointments and called for a final report while the Law Minister would make recommendations for amendments in the relevant laws.

Shibli Faraz also said that people should take precautionary measures while easing the lockdown, every individual has to play his role in fulfilling his national responsibility and coronavirus epidemic can be prevented by ensuring social distances.

Information Minister Shibli Faraz further said that the government is facing the biggest challenge of coronavirus at the moment, the threat of COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, we have to save each other while so far 95 billion have been distributed under the Ehsas Emergency Cash Program across the country.
