New Cases:
According to the national dashboard, 1,073 new cases were recorded in Punjab, 91 new cases were recorded in Islamabad, while 10 new cases were reported in AJK.
Death Tally:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leads the tally in the country with the highest number of deaths 365, followed by Sindh 336. Punjab has reported 310 deaths, Balochistan 39, Islamabad 12, four in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in AJK.
Business to remain Open 24 hours:
The Islamabad administration decided to open business activities 24 hours a day, according to the notification issued. Shopping malls, salon, barber shops and other shops allowed to open 7 days a week under certain SOPs. The notification states that shaking hands will prohibited while shop keepers and consumers must wear masks and gloves. The notification issued by the Islamabad administration further said that try rooms would be kept closed at clothing shops while shopkeepers would have to ensure social distance and use of sanitizers.
No Strict Lockdown:
Muslim countries including Pakistan observe Jumma Tul Wida (the last Friday of Holy month of Ramadan) today on May 22. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, people directed to offer prayers at their home to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. While, mosques allowing Friday prayers will follow strict social distancing precautions.
